We are recruiting for a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school in Chorley from September. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support for two pupils with Autism and behaviour needs. Working closely alongside the class teacher and SEND team, you will play a vital role in helping the children access the curriculum, develop positive learning behaviours, and reach their full potential. As a Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support two pupils with ASC and behaviour needs within a mainstream primary classroom. • Work collaboratively with the class teacher to adapt learning and encourage classroom participation. • Deliver targeted interventions to close learning gaps and help pupils achieve age-related expectations. • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and confidence. • Use positive behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement and independence. • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil development. The school prides itself on its supportive leadership team, welcoming atmosphere, and strong commitment to inclusive education. This is a temporary position starting in September, with the potential to become permanent depending on future funding. You do not need to have class-based experience or Teaching Assistant qualifications, although these are desirable. To be considered for this role, you must have: • At least 6 months' experience working with SEND. • Overseas applicants must have a minimum of 3 months' UK-based SEND experience. • A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND and complex needs. • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm. • The ability to reliably commute to Chorley and the surrounding areas. • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one (Axcis Education can support you with the application process). What we offer: • Pay starting from £92.63 per day. • Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities. • Short-term, long-term, and temp-to-perm roles. • A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your placements. • Opportunities to gain experience across a variety of SEND settings. • Competitive rates of pay and ongoing career support. If you are an enthusiastic, patient, and compassionate individual looking for a rewarding role supporting children with additional needs, we would love to hear from you. Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, a Support Worker, or have transferable SEND experience, this could be the perfect opportunity to develop your career in education while making a lasting difference in the lives of young learners.
