Job Title: Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) – Secondary School
Location: EN4 (North London)
Hours: Full-time | Monday to Friday
A supportive secondary school in the EN4 area is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a student with severe Autism.
This is a highly rewarding role requiring consistency, patience and a nurturing approach. The student is non-verbal and requires ongoing support with communication, engagement in learning, and daily routines, including aspects of personal care.
Role Responsibilities:
Providing 1:1 support throughout the school day
Supporting communication using alternative methods (e.g. visuals, gestures, routines)
Assisting with classroom engagement and structured learning activities
Supporting personal care needs in a dignified and respectful manner
Working closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals to implement individual support plans
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience working with children or young people with Autism and complex needs
Be confident supporting non-verbal communication
Be calm, patient, and highly resilient
Be comfortable and experienced with personal care support (or willing to be trained)
Be committed to building a consistent, trusting relationship with the student
