Setting: Specialist SEND Provision within a Mainstream Primary School (Up to 10 Pupils)
Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role in a primary school? A well-established SEND provision within a mainstream primary school in Christchurch is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from March 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a nurturing SEND unit supporting a small group of pupils (up to 10) with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, communication difficulties, and additional learning needs. You’ll enjoy the best of both worlds: specialist SEND support while remaining fully connected to the inclusive mainstream classroom environment.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ASC, SEMH, and communication needs
Support personalised learning plans, structured routines, and transitions
Promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning
Work closely with an experienced SEND teacher and supportive school staff
Help create a calm, safe, and positive learning environment
Build trusting relationships to help pupils feel confident, secure, and ready to learn
This role is ideal for someone who values consistency, routines, and relationship-based support, and who wants to see the direct impact of their work every day.
The Ideal Candidate
Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant, ideally in primary or SEND settings
Strong understanding of ASC, SEMH, and communication needs
Calm, resilient, and consistent in approach
Confident supporting behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement
Reliable, committed, and passionate about helping pupils thrive
A positive team player who enjoys collaborative work
