Axcis Education are supporting one of our partner schools in Wakefield in their recruitment drive for February and beyond. In particular we looking for a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work in a welcoming, busy mainstream primary school in West Wakefield. It is a positive and nurturing school that promotes active learning and a creative approach to the curriculum so if you have any background in Drama, Sport or Performing Arts this could be very beneficial in the job. The role involves working 1-1 with a KS1 child with Autism from Monday to Friday, 8.30 to 13:30, and pay starts at £65 for the part-day. You will be supporting the student during lessons and the transition period from home to school, as they find this challenging. The pupil is very bright and loves reading, but needs help focussing in classes. He is very active and sometimes struggles to concentrate, therefore you will need to be able to build a strong rapport with the student and be adaptable to their needs. There are 26 other pupils of mixed abilities with whom the pupils enjoys socialising on the playground, but he often struggles to maintain these relationships during class time. The school are hoping to recruit someone looking to take the role on permanently, so starting ASAP until May Spring Bank Holiday initially but could become permanent for the right person. Experience working with young people with ASD is ideal, however a positive and engaging character and commitment to the role are more important!

If you are interested, then please click on the apply button and contact Richard Sykes on 0113 513 1717 l Ext: 8006.

If you are not interested in this role but know someone else who might be, don't forget that we offer £50 in shopping vouchers if you refer a friend to us and we place them in the job. For more details, contact your local Axcis office.

This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and as such we do not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other equal opportunities criteria.

The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

As such, you will be required to provide an up to date DBS, or be prepared to allow Axcis to process one on your behalf, in addition to other mandatory compliance checks in line with the DfE guidelines (for details please see our website).

Axcis Education is an employment agency offering temporary supply work for daily, short-term and long-term assignments in addition to permanent positions.

You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview with Axcis to demonstrate your suitability for this role.

Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.

View the disclaimer

Contact: Richard Sykes

Telephone: 0113 513 1717 l Ext: 8006
