Job Title: Mental Health Support in Schools Location: Mainstream High School - St Helens Rate of pay: between £12 - 14 per hour Details: Axcis are looking for a youth worker for a role within a St Helens based mainstream high school. Axcis are looking for a candidate who ideally has a background in youth work and is seeking a new challenge, within an educational setting. The school itself, caters for KS3 / 4 students, some of whom have additional needs and challenging behaviours including; autism, ADHD, ODD, learning difficulties and SEMH needs. This would be a full time, temp to permanent position for the right candidate. The school has a high proportion of students who require 1:1 support and the school are looking for a candidate with experience supporting students who have additional needs or challenging behaviours. The school are looking to appoint a hard working support assistant who ideally has a youth work background and / or experience working with young people who are harder to reach or who are disengaged from education. The role, will start as soon as possible on a long term basis on a temp to perm basis. The school hours are 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday – Friday with a 30 minute lunch break. The role will require the candidate to have strong behaviour management skills as well as being caring, compassionate and resilient. The candidate must have some experience, ideally youth work or education based, and have an understanding or experience working with children on the autism spectrum, or those with SEMH difficulties and challenging behaviours.
