This role offers the opportunity to work as part of a committed and nurturing team, focused on promoting emotional well-being, mental health, and personal development across the school community.
About the School
Our school provides tailored education and support for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), the majority of whom have SEMH as their primary need. Many of our pupils have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences, and we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and compassionate learning environment in which they can thrive both academically and personally.
We adopt a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach to learning and well-being. Through our comprehensive training programmes and strong focus on pastoral care, we aim to establish a culture rooted in empathy, connection, and growth.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing a whole-school approach to well-being, supporting the wider school ethos of safety, connection, and compassion.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide structured 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a focus on emotional well-being, behaviour regulation, and personal development.
• Offer support and coaching to staff in developing and embedding strategies that promote mental health and well-being across the school.
• Contribute to a positive and supportive school culture by modelling effective relationship-building and promoting restorative practices.
• Collaborate with teaching and pastoral staff to ensure that individual needs are met and that all students have access to meaningful support.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes.
Person Specification
Essential:
• Experience of working with children or young people with SEMH needs or those who have experienced trauma.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
• An understanding of trauma-informed practice and child development.
• A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting behaviour and emotional needs.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable:
• Relevant qualifications in counselling, youth work, mental health, or education.
• Experience working within a school or similar educational setting.
• Training in mental health first aid, restorative approaches, or similar areas.
