Job Title: Trauma-Informed Support Worker Location: Rochdale, Lancashire Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Opportunities Available Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people facing barriers to learning due to trauma, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, complex behaviour, or Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)? We are seeking an empathetic and skilled Trauma-Informed Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Rochdale, Lancashire. As a Trauma-Informed Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment within our small class settings, helping students to feel safe, understood, and empowered to engage in their education. Key Responsibilities: - Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, complex behaviours, and ASC, ensuring a stable and nurturing environment. - Develop and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, and other professionals to support pupil progress. - Implement individualized support plans designed to meet the unique needs of each student. - Work collaboratively with the teaching team to integrate trauma-informed practices into daily routines and learning activities. - Participate in training and development opportunities to deepen your understanding of trauma-informed care and relevant interventions. - Use positive behavior support strategies to manage challenging behaviors in a constructive and non-confrontational manner. - Maintain accurate records of student progress, incidents, and any concerns to ensure comprehensive support for each child. - Ensure the safety and well-being of all students in line with school policies and safeguarding regulations. Qualifications and Requirements: - A strong understanding of trauma’s impact on children and young people, ideally underpinned by relevant qualifications or training. - Experience working with individuals with SEMH, ASC, and/or challenging behaviors. - Current DBS on the update service or willingness to undergo a new Enhanced DBS check. - A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach to working with vulnerable children. - Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to contribute positively to a learning community. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a capacity to build relationships and rapport with students. - Flexibility to adapt to changing needs within the educational environment.
