Axcis Education are looking for an experienced TeamTeach or MAPA trained SEND TA to work in the school Resource base starting ASAP, with a view to go permanent. The school have 7 children in the base and all but 2 are non or pre-verbal. The base itself has an additional 2 support staff as well as their SENDCO working in the unit on a full time basis. THE ROLE: Full Time: Mon - Fri - 8:30 - 3:45pm You will be supporting a pupil with social communication needs on a 1:1 basis predominantly, to ensure his safe and comfortable transition into his new school. You will ideally have a background of working with pupils who present with challenging behaviours when a need is not being met, so will understand that this situation for him will be daunting and scary, so will model the calm he will be needing. YOU WILL NEED: The ideal candidate will be extremely calm yet proactive in their work. This will be a very challenging role but also highly rewarding. You must have a DBS or be in a position to process one. You must have an overseas police check if you have worked/lived abroad in the last 5 years. You must have been trained in TeamTeach, MAPA, or another similar course on de-escalation and re-direction, and restraint.
