Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School – Purfleet
From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start
Axcis are working with a welcoming and community-focused primary school in Purfleet who are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting children in a mainstream primary setting and wants to become part of a positive, inclusive school environment. The school has a caring ethos, supportive staff team and a strong focus on helping pupils develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.
The role would suit someone who is proactive, patient and confident working with children across the primary age range. You will be supporting pupils in class, helping with small-group learning and encouraging positive engagement throughout the school day.
The school is based in Purfleet and is accessible by local transport links, with routes from Thurrock, Rainham, Grays, Dagenham and surrounding areas.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils with their learning, routines and confidence in the classroom. You may support whole-class activities, small groups and individual pupils who need additional encouragement.
You will:
• Support pupils across the primary phase within mainstream lessons
• Work with small groups to reinforce reading, writing, phonics and maths
• Help pupils stay focused, understand instructions and complete tasks
• Support classroom routines, transitions and practical learning activities
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence and confidence
• Assist the class teacher with resources, displays and daily organisation
• Help create a calm, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or youth setting
• A positive, patient and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Confidence supporting pupils both academically and socially
• Good classroom awareness and willingness to use initiative
• Experience supporting phonics, reading or small-group learning would be beneficial
• Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role from September
