Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Salisbury. This full-time Teaching Assistant position involves supporting pupils who have social, emotional and mental health needs.
This rewarding Teaching Assistant role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with their learning, emotional wellbeing, social skills and personal growth, helping them overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils across Key Stages
• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, trauma experiences, autism and ADHD
• Helping pupils access learning and engage positively in lessons
• Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation
• Promoting social development, communication skills, and confidence
• Working closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised support
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:
• Be patient, resilient and adaptable
• Have experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children and young people with additional needs
• Be confident supporting pupils who may display behaviours that challenge
• Have a genuine interest in SEMH education and inclusive practice
• Be committed to supporting both the academic progress and personal development of pupils
• Work effectively as part of a wider school team
