Axcis Education is currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a SEND Primary School near Feltham Station. This is a full-time, long-term role, supporting a child with Autism (ASD), who is non-verbal and presents with challenging behaviour. You will be working as part of a 3:1 support team, so strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.
This is a highly rewarding role suited to someone with resilience, confidence, and a strong understanding of behaviour support strategies.
About the Role:
-Supporting a non-verbal primary-aged pupil with Autism, on a 3:1 ratio, alongside two other support staff
-Managing challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support techniques
-Assisting with personalised learning plans and sensory-based activities
-Implementing communication tools such as PECS or Makaton (experience preferred)
-Ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
-Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists
The Ideal Candidate Will:
-Have proven experience working with children with ASD and challenging behaviour
-Be confident working in a structured behaviour support setting
-Have experience with non-verbal communication methods (PECS, Makaton, visuals, etc.)
-Be calm, patient, and resilient under pressure
-Hold a valid, enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
-Be available to start at the end of September 2025
