Teaching Assistant – Mainstream School (Camden)

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream school in Camden is looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September. This role is focused on providing dedicated support to a Key Stage 1 student with non-verbal autism (ASD) who presents with challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver consistent, individualised support that enables the pupil to access learning and thrive in the classroom environment. The role requires a strong understanding of autism, behaviour management strategies, and alternative methods of communication.
Applicants must have prior experience supporting students with autism and challenging behaviours, and must have worked in a UK school setting. Experience working with non-verbal children and using communication aids (such as PECS, makaton or visual timetables) is highly desirable. Patience, resilience, and the ability to build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil are essential.
This is a full-time position only, and part-time applications will not be considered.
