Location: Southall, West London (Excellent Rail Links)
Start Date: September 2025
Working Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Day Rate: Competitive (Dependent on Experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time | Long-Term
About the Role
Axcis Education is excited to be working in partnership with a thriving mainstream primary school in Southall, West London, to recruit a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant. This long-term, full-time position will begin in September 2025 and is specifically designed to support a child in Key Stage 1 with ASD.
The pupil you will be supporting is an inquisitive and bright young learner who responds well to a structured, consistent environment. Although highly capable, they require additional support with emotional regulation and behaviour, particularly during transitions or when faced with unexpected changes. The school is seeking someone who can build a strong, trusting relationship with the child and foster a sense of safety, confidence, and routine within the school day.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusive education and is ready to make a positive and lasting impact in a young child’s life.
Key Responsibilities
-Deliver 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD, focusing on emotional regulation, communication, and engagement
-Follow a personalised learning plan developed in collaboration with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists
-Use visual aids, structured routines, and positive reinforcement strategies to guide behaviour and encourage participation
-Support the pupil during classroom lessons, group activities, and unstructured times such as break and lunch
-Foster social development and emotional literacy, encouraging interaction with peers where appropriate
-Record and monitor progress, providing regular feedback to staff and parents, and contributing to review meetings
-Support a calm and focused learning environment by proactively managing potential triggers and maintaining clear expectations
What We’re Looking For
-Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other additional needs in an educational setting
-Ability to remain calm, consistent, and patient, particularly when faced with challenging behaviour
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and professionals
-Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and an understanding of sensory needs (experience with tools such as PECS, now/next boards, or sensory breaks is beneficial)
-A genuine passion for working in inclusive education, helping children overcome barriers to learning
Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (essential)
-Any relevant SEN training or qualifications are desirable but not essential – the school is open to supporting training for the right candidate
Why Join This School?
-Be part of a caring and inclusive school that prioritises the well-being and development of both pupils and staff
-Work alongside a collaborative team of teachers, SEN specialists, and senior leaders who value your role and input
-Gain valuable experience working in a setting that promotes inclusive learning, with access to ongoing training and CPD opportunities
-Conveniently located with excellent public transport links, including rail connections via Southall Station
-Make a meaningful difference each day by supporting a child in reaching their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally
