Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Romford, Havering Start Date: September 2025 (potentially start before) Working Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:20 AM – 3:15 PM Contract: Full-Time | Remainder of the Academic Year (with potential for extension) About the Role Axcis Education is working with a well-regarded primary school in Romford, Havering, to recruit a dedicated and passionate Level 2 Teaching Assistant. Known for its inclusive ethos and strong links to the local community, the school was recently rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED. This full-time role will involve supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with a particular focus on children with SEND, social difficulties, or behavioural challenges. You’ll play a key part in helping pupils close learning gaps—particularly in reading and writing—through phonics-based intervention strategies. Key Responsibilities -Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils in KS1 and KS2, including those with SEND -Deliver and reinforce phonics-based learning to strengthen pupils’ literacy skills -Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development -Collaborate with class teachers and the SENCO to tailor support and lesson adaptations -Contribute to intervention sessions and monitor pupil progress -Assist with classroom preparation, resource organisation, and general classroom duties Ideal Candidate Will Have -A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) -Experience working with children with SEND, especially Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) -Confidence using phonics to support early literacy -A proactive, caring, and patient attitude -A genuine desire to help children succeed both academically and emotionally Why Join This School? -Be part of a warm, inclusive, and community-driven school -Support pupils who need a little extra help to achieve their full potential -Join a collaborative staff team that values professional growth and wellbeing -Make a real and lasting impact on children’s development every single day Interested?
