Salary: £90 per day PAYE

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at a supportive and inclusive educational setting in Andover, Hampshire. You will be working closely with students aged 11-19 years old, who have a primary diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome, along with various social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students, both within the classroom and in smaller group or individual settings, to enable them to access the curriculum and make progress in their learning.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for students and monitor their progress, reporting back to the lead teacher or SENCO.
- Encourage the development of students' social skills and independence, both within the school environment and in preparation for adult life.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Facilitate the participation of students in various activities, ensuring they can engage fully and confidently.
- Utilize behaviour management strategies effectively, maintaining a calm and positive posture with students who may experience challenging behaviour due to their emotional and mental health needs.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and professionals regarding the well-being and progression of students, upholding a professional standard of confidentiality.
- Contribute to the wider school community, participating in events, training, and team meetings as required.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in working with young people or vulnerable adults, particularly those with SEND is desired.
- A clear understanding of, or experience in, supporting individuals with Asperger's Syndrome and associated SEMH challenges.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient individual with a genuine passion for helping students achieve their potential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of forming positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Able to employ initiative and creativity to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
- Preferred: Full driving license and access to a vehicle, considering the nature of the role may involve travel to different locations or transporting students.
- Commitment to professional development and willingness to undertake further training as necessary.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo DBS checking.
