Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education are currently looking searching for a member of staff to join the team in an alternative provision in Preston. This site caters for secondary aged pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. The role would be suitable for someone coming from a youth worker background due to the needs of the pupils you would be working with. The role involves working as a teaching assistant, supporting pupils in the classroom on either a 1-1 basis or in small groups. You would be expected to assist the class teacher where required. The pupils can no longer remain in mainstream education, and the aim is to help them to reengage with their education and to potentially return to mainstream schooling if possible. The pupils have social, emotional and mental health needs, whether that is a difficult home life, trauma, addiction or other forms of SEMH. There are also instances of challenging behaviour within the school. In order to be considered for this role, you must have previous experience working with the SEND children. Whether that is in an education setting or another setting, such as residential support. The most important thing is thing is that you are a reliable and resilient individual who would not be intimidated by instances of challenging behaviour. The school are willing to consider those with limited school based experience provided they have the right SEND knowledge and are the right fit for the school.
