**Hours:** Full-Time, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
**Job Description:**
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at Littleborough, Lancashire. This is a special opportunity for an individual with a desire to make a significant impact on the lives of children with special educational needs. The ideal candidate will have a nurturing approach and a passion for working with children, especially those with Autism and complex behaviours.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide one-to-one support to a child with non-verbal Autism in KS1, based on the Early Years curriculum. Ensure their educational and personal needs are met, which may involve some aspects of personal care.
- Support a child in KS2 during the afternoon sessions, assisting with behaviour management strategies. This role requires patience and understanding as the child is not violent but may become easily distracted in non-core subjects due to a lack of interest.
- Employ effective communication techniques to facilitate the learning and development of children with Autism and complex behaviours.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with the children, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs and learning styles.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and parents to provide holistic support tailored to each child’s requirements.
- Implement strategies and use resources that enhance the learning experience for children with special educational needs.
- Actively participate in meetings and training sessions to continue developing professional knowledge and skills related to special education.
**Qualifications and Skills:**
- Experience: A minimum of 12 months of experience working within UK schools, specifically with children presenting Autism and complex behaviours.
- Education: Understanding of the Early Years (EYS) curriculum is preferred, especially for supporting the KS1 child.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills are crucial to effectively interact with children, staff, and parents.
- Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and maintain strong, empathetic relationships
- Adaptability: Capable of working with children across both KS1 and KS2 age groups.
- UK Experience: Must have experience in UK-based schools to understand the educational framework and policies within the region.
