Job Title: Teaching Assistant SEND
Axcis Education are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEND secondary school in Skelmersdale for an experienced SEND teaching assistant. This role would be full time, Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm, covering for a maternity leave. The position is due to start as soon as possible. There may be potential for the permanent position for the right applicant. The successful applicant would be working with a KS5 class. The school caters for pupils with additional needs. You would predominantly be working with autism across the spectrum and learning disabilities, though there are likely to be other SEND needs within the class. The school are preparing this class for leaving school, equipping them with life skills and providing work experience. You would be working both in the school and in the community where required. The school was rated as 'good' by OFSTED in its most recent inspection. There are excellent facilities onsite including multiple sensory rooms, a forest school provision and outdoor spaces. The school will often focus on extra-curricular activities and arrange days out, such as canoeing, swimming and archery. There is a large car park onsite as well as bus links within walking distance of the school. To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience with the SEND needs listed above. This role often suits those coming from a care background due to the personal care needs of some pupils. Ideally you will have experience working with children in a form that can be referenced. Additional experience with extracurricular activities, such as sports or other areas, would be beneficial but is not essential. You will require an enhanced DBS, either dated in the past 12 months or ideally on the update service.
