Job Title: Teaching Assistant SEMH
Axcis Education is currently recruiting for SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a specialist secondary school in Blackburn. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and resilient individual to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. This role would suit candidates with experience in SEND education, behaviour support, youth work, care, or mentoring who are looking to make a positive difference in the lives of young people. About the Role As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teaching staff to support secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access education, develop confidence, and build positive relationships. The school supports students with a variety of needs, including: • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) • ADHD • Learning difficulties • Behavioural and emotional needs You will provide classroom support, help students regulate their emotions, encourage positive behaviour, and support pupils in reaching their academic and personal goals. Due to the nature of the role, some pupils may display challenging behaviour, so experience with behaviour management, de-escalation strategies, and building trusting relationships would be highly beneficial.
