Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Autism
EYFS Autism Teaching Assistant | From £89/day | Tower Hamlets | September Start | Full Time | Long Term Supply Axcis are working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in the heart of Tower Hamlets to recruit a Teaching Assistant for an EYFS pupil with autism. The school is set in a leafy part of the borough, within walking distance of the DLR and several major bus routes, and has a strong reputation for nurturing early childhood development. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, the school is known for its welcoming staff and its holistic approach to SEND provision. In this role, you will: • Provide 1:1 support to a Reception-aged child with autism, focusing on communication, transitions, and routine. • Use visual support tools such as now/next boards and PECS to aid understanding and reduce anxiety. • Assist with social development and play-based learning in both structured and free-flow environments. • Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement strategies that reflect the child’s EHCP and learning style. • Help foster independence, engagement, and emotional regulation in a calm and predictable setting. What we’re looking for: • Previous experience supporting children with autism in an EYFS or primary setting. • A calm, consistent, and nurturing approach to behaviour and communication challenges. • Familiarity with early childhood frameworks and autism strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory play. • A team player who is passionate about giving every child the best possible start to school life.
