Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Autism Support
Position Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Trafford, Greater Manchester Job Type: Full-Time Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Are you an enthusiastic and compassionate Teaching Assistant eager to support the development of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? Axcis are looking for a committed individual to work in one of our mainstream secondary schools in Trafford, offering one-to-one support and helping students build confidence, independence and academic success in a safe and inclusive environment. Role Overview: Offer personalised, one-to-one assistance to students with ASD, responding to their unique educational and emotional needs. Help maintain a calm and supportive classroom setting that fosters learning and appropriate social behaviour. Collaborate with teaching staff to implement targeted strategies based on students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP). Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents/carers to ensure a consistent and joined-up approach to support. Assist with lesson preparation, resource organisation and general classroom management. Observe and record student progress and provide meaningful feedback to the wider teaching team. Engage in relevant training and continuous professional development, particularly in the area of autism and special needs support. Uphold the school’s safeguarding procedures to protect and promote the welfare of all students. Candidate Profile: Experience in a similar role, ideally supporting students with ASD in a secondary school environment. Strong understanding of the challenges and strengths associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Patient, understanding and committed to helping students achieve their full potential. Able to build positive relationships and communicate clearly with young people, teachers, and parents. Confident in following safeguarding practices and supporting student wellbeing. Team-oriented, well-organised, and adaptable in a dynamic school setting. Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are advantageous.
