Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Full-Time Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Trauma Provision
Location: Bodmin
Pay: £94–£100 per day
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Contract: Temporary initially, with a view to becoming permanent for the right person
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role where you can make a genuine difference to young people’s lives?
Axcis Education are working with a specialist school that supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and experiences of trauma. The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment, helping students build confidence, develop positive relationships and re-engage with education.
We are looking for a resilient, patient and emotionally intelligent Teaching Assistant who understands that behaviour is often a form of communication and can build positive relationships with students who may have experienced significant challenges.
The Role:
• Supporting students with SEMH needs and trauma-related behaviours
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support both in and outside of the classroom
• Helping students regulate their emotions and develop positive coping strategies
• Building trusting, consistent relationships with young people
• Supporting learning, engagement and personal development
• Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team
• Maintaining clear and consistent boundaries while using a nurturing approach
• Helping create a calm, safe and positive learning environment
We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
• A good understanding of SEMH and/or trauma-informed approaches is highly desirable
• Someone who is patient, resilient and confident managing challenging behaviour
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to remain calm and consistent in difficult situations
• A nurturing approach alongside the ability to maintain clear boundaries
• You must be a driver due to the location of the school

The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, paying £94–£100 per day, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
