Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: All-Through Special School, Tilehurst Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm Pay: £89 per day Start Date: ASAP Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? An all-through special school in Tilehurst is seeking a dedicated and flexible SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. About the Role The school caters for pupils aged 4–19 with a wide range of needs, and flexibility is essential. You may be supporting learners in any of the classes—from early years through to post-16—depending on where the need is greatest. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. The role includes supporting pupils with personal care needs, helping them to access learning, and promoting their independence, wellbeing and engagement. Key Responsibilities • Provide in-class support for pupils with a wide range of SEND, adapting to different classrooms and age groups as required • Assist with personal care, including toileting, changing and feeding • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning • Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored strategies • Contribute to creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment • Build supportive relationships with pupils, staff and families About You • Prior experience working with children or young people with SEND (in a school, care, youth work or similar setting) • A flexible, proactive and compassionate approach • Comfortable providing personal care • Strong communication and teamwork skills • A calm, patient and resilient attitude • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people What We Offer • A welcoming and supportive staff team • A diverse and engaging school environment with opportunities to learn and grow • The chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people If you are enthusiastic, adaptable and passionate about supporting learners with additional needs, we would love to hear from you.
