Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (ASC) - January Start Location: Bournemouth, Dorset We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant specialising in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) to join our specialist provision attached to an outstanding primary school in Bournemouth, Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity for a caring professional to contribute to a supportive environment under the guidance of a long-standing and committed Senior Leadership Team (SLT). As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will become an integral part of our team, working within our Key Stage 1 provision to support a class of 9 pupils with varied educational needs. Key Responsibilities: - Provide tailored support to children with ASC to enhance their learning and personal development. - Assist the teacher in planning and delivering inclusive and engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of the pupils. - Implement strategies and use resources to promote a stimulating and safe learning environment. - Encourage the social and emotional development of pupils, fostering independence and confidence. - Work closely with the SLT and other professionals to monitor and support the pupils' progress. - Maintain accurate records of the pupils' development, reporting any concerns to the relevant personnel. - Facilitate communication between pupils and staff, enabling pupils to express their needs and assisting with the development of their communication skills. - Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting pupils with SEND and ASC. Qualifications and Skills: - Prior experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with ASC, is strongly preferred. - An NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Teaching Assistance or a related field is desirable. - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to interact effectively with pupils, staff, and parents. - A patient, empathetic approach, with a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. - Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support pupils' educational and developmental needs. - Good organizational skills to plan activities and manage resources effectively.
