We are seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Teacher to join our growing Alternative Provision in Wythenshawe, Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated teacher who believes that every child deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of their barriers to learning. Our provision supports pupils with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, SEND profiles and additional learning needs. We provide a nurturing, therapeutic and relationship-led environment where children feel safe, valued and empowered to achieve their potential. Whether you currently work in mainstream education, special education, SEND schools, pupil referral units (PRUs) or alternative provisions, we'd love to hear from you. The Role As an SEMH Teacher, you will deliver engaging, personalised learning programmes that help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally. Working with small class sizes and a highly supportive multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact every day. Key Responsibilities: Teaching, Learning and Curriculum: * Plan, deliver and review personalised learning programmes aligned to EHCP outcomes and individual needs. * Teach individuals and small groups using adaptive teaching strategies. * Deliver a broad and balanced primary curriculum including: * English (phonics, reading and writing) * Mathematics * Science * Humanities * Computing * PSHE * Create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment. * Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs). * Embed communication, social interaction and independence skills throughout the school day. * Support the development of life skills, emotional literacy and positive relationships. Assessment and Progress: * Monitor and assess academic, social-emotional and developmental progress. * Use assessment data to identify barriers to learning and inform next steps. * Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour and achievement. * Contribute to EHCP reviews and annual review meetings. * Build positive partnerships with parents and carers to support pupil success. Behaviour, Wellbeing and Safeguarding: * Foster a safe, nurturing and trauma-informed classroom culture. * Implement positive behaviour support strategies and regulation approaches. * Support pupils to develop self-regulation, resilience and emotional wellbeing. * Follow safeguarding procedures and promote pupil welfare at all times. Teamwork and Professional Development: * Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and external professionals. * Contribute to multidisciplinary planning and integrated support programmes. * Attend CPD, staff meetings and professional development opportunities. * Share best practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the provision. ### Contributing to Our School Community * Champion our therapeutic and nurturing ethos. * Model professionalism, empathy and high expectations. * Support whole-school improvement initiatives and positive culture development. * Be a positive role model for pupils, families and colleagues.
