Full-Time Class Teacher – Starting September 2025 Exeter | Specialist School for Children & Young People with SLD/PMLD Full-Time, opportunity to be Permanent | MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Class Teacher to join a highly respected specialist school in Exeter this September. The school supports children and young people aged 3 to 19 with Severe, Profound, and Multiple Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD), many of whom have complex needs. A Person-Centred Approach underpins everything at this school, with a deeply inclusive ethos: “Everyone will be the best they can be. Everyone has a voice. No one is excluded.” Key Responsibilities: Lead a class group and manage the classroom timetable. Plan, assess, and evaluate individualised learning programmes each term. Organise, support, and co-ordinate the work of Teaching Assistants and HLTAs. Safeguard and promote the welfare and wellbeing of pupils at all times. Foster positive relationships with parents, carers, therapists, and medical teams. Maintain high standards of pupil behaviour and classroom engagement. Take responsibility for setting and overseeing appropriate learning activities during absences. Contribute to subject leadership and whole-school development initiatives. Participate in professional development and school-wide meetings. Support with personal care, feeding, and administration of emergency medication as needed. Adhere to health and safety procedures and complete risk assessments where appropriate. What We're Looking For: A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent), with a passion for inclusive education. This role is to teach in the college site with KS3 and KS4 pupils Woking at a lower level. A team player who can confidently lead support staff and collaborate with multi-disciplinary professionals. Someone with strong communication skills and a commitment to building positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
