Job Title: SEND Teacher - Autism
SEND Teacher – Primary Autism Provision | From £170/day | Havering | September Start | Full Time | Long Term Supply
Axcis are seeking a compassionate and creative SEND Teacher to join a well-regarded special provision in the borough of Havering. This setting caters to pupils across the primary age range with autism and associated communication needs. Based in a quiet residential area with excellent transport links and free parking, the school is proud of its warm, structured environment and strong sense of community.
Rated “Good” by Ofsted, the school places a strong emphasis on individual progress, communication, and sensory regulation. In this role, you will:
• Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for a small class of pupils with autism, supported by experienced TAs.
• Create structured and visual learning environments that support routine, communication and regulation.
• Plan and implement strategies in line with pupils’ EHCPs, liaising with therapists and the SENDCo.
• Use approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, Attention Autism and sensory integration.
• Foster a calm, positive classroom culture where pupils feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
What we’re looking for:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) with experience teaching pupils with autism.
• A strong understanding of SEND strategies and how to personalise the curriculum.
• Experience with low-verbal, non-verbal or sensory-sensitive learners.
• Excellent classroom management skills with a nurturing, patient, and creative outlook.
