Teaching Assistant with Care Experience – SEND Secondary School – Havering Start Date: September 2025 Position Type: Full-time or Four Days Per Week Location: Havering A specialist SEND Secondary School in Havering is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a background in care work to join their supportive team this September. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. About the Role The successful candidate will provide both academic and personal care support to students, working closely with them on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. You will play an essential role in promoting independence, personal development, and life skills. Key Responsibilities Supporting students with SEND in their learning and development Assisting with personal care needs Encouraging independence and engagement in daily activities Collaborating with teachers and support staff to ensure a consistent and nurturing learning environment Candidate Requirements Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant and in personal care Understanding of SEND and a patient, empathetic approach Epilepsy or manual handling training is desirable but not essential Valid enhanced DBS check Two recent proof of address documents Right to work in the United Kingdom This role is ideal for someone proactive, empathetic, and passionate about helping young people succeed both academically and personally.
