We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive secondary school in Theale, Reading. This role involves working with students aged 11 to 16 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time position beginning in September 2025, with the potential to become a permanent role.
About the Role
This is not just a classroom support role. You will become a consistent, trusted adult in the lives of young people who may have experienced trauma, disrupted education or emotionally difficult backgrounds. You will support students both in and out of lessons, helping them access learning, regulate their behaviour and feel safe in school.
You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to provide individualised support, using a positive, relationship-based approach that prioritises understanding and emotional safety.

Essential Requirements
• A Level 3 qualification in any subject
• GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above
• At least three months of experience supporting young people with SEND, ideally in a SEND or SEMH school setting
• Full availability from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
• Strong understanding of behaviour management and a positive, trauma-informed approach to support
