Job Title: SEND College Teaching Assistant
SEND College Teaching Assistant (SEMH/PMLD/Challenging Behaviours)
Location: West Norwood
Type: Full-Time
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs?
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Support Worker to join our team at Send College, supporting students with SEMH, PMLD, and challenging behaviours. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children and young adults in an educational or college setting, and possess the necessary safeguarding clearances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH, PMLD, and challenging behaviours
- Assist with personal care when required
- Implement behaviour management strategies, including Team Teach techniques (training is a bonus)
- Provide academic support and facilitate learning activities
- Use computers and classroom resources effectively
- Promote a safe and positive learning environment
Requirements:
- Valid Child and Adult DBS Enhanced clearance
- Experience working with SEND students in secondary or college environments
- Confident in managing challenging behaviours
- Personal care experience is essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use a computer and assist with classroom activities
- Relevant academic background or qualifications in Education or related fields (preferred)
Desirable:
- Team Teach trained (or willing to undertake training)
