Make a real difference every single day
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD)? Do you want a role where your patience, empathy, and dedication truly help children thrive and make meaningful progress?
As a SEND Child Support Worker through Axcis Education, you’ll play a vital part in specialist PMLD provisions, providing consistent, compassionate support that helps pupils with complex needs learn, develop, and achieve their individual goals in a nurturing environment.
About the Role
You will work closely with pupils who have severe and profound learning disabilities, offering high-quality, personalised support. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Delivering 1:1 and small group support to help pupils engage with learning activities
Assisting with personal care and daily living skills in a sensitive, respectful, and dignified way
Supporting pupils’ communication, sensory needs, and physical access to the curriculum
Helping to implement individual learning plans and EHCPs
Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider multi-disciplinary team
Creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment where every small step of progress is celebrated
This is a deeply rewarding role for someone who finds genuine fulfilment in supporting children with complex needs.
About the Setting
You will be based in specialist PMLD provisions, part of a well-reputed trust of SEND schools, known for their caring ethos, highly skilled staff teams, and commitment to delivering exceptional education and care for children and young people aged 2–19 with severe and profound learning disabilities. These are supportive environments specifically designed to meet complex needs, with a strong focus on individualised support and pupil wellbeing.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome candidates who are passionate about making a difference in SEND. Relevant experience is valuable, but attitude and potential are equally important. You will ideally have:
Previous experience supporting individuals with SEND (this can come from paid employment, voluntary work, or personal experience)
Patience, warmth, empathy, and a calm, resilient approach
The ability to work flexibly as part of a dedicated team
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Good communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
Experience with PMLD or personal care is desirable but not essential — full training and ongoing support will be provided.
