Axcis Education is proud to be working in partnership with a well-regarded SEN school in St Austell, Cornwall to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time, long-term position offering the opportunity to support pupils with a range of special educational needs in a positive, inclusive learning environment.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and who are committed to helping them succeed both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide targeted support to individual pupils or small groups, ensuring their educational, emotional, and social needs are met.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SENCO to implement and monitor Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
• Support the development and use of strategies and resources that promote inclusion and engagement.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to foster independence, confidence, and participation in school life.
• Contribute to the assessment and review of pupil progress and provide clear, accurate feedback when required.
• Adapt learning materials and activities to meet diverse learning needs and facilitate full access to the curriculum.
• Promote consistent, sensitive behaviour support in line with school policies.
• Liaise with external professionals including speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, and other specialists.

Essential Requirements:
• Experience working with children or young people, preferably within a SEND setting.
• A patient, calm, and resilient approach with a strong commitment to inclusion.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and follow teacher guidance effectively.
• A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
• A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
• Direct experience supporting pupils with SEND in secondary education.
• Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and experience with IEP implementation.
• Training in safeguarding, child protection, or other relevant areas.
