Job Purpose
Axcis is working with a Primary school in Romford, who are looking for a SEN Teacher to join their team. The role with be to support the learning, development, and emotional well-being of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). You will create inclusive, nurturing environments that cater to a wide range of needs, including but not limited to autism, dyslexia, ADHD, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and physical or sensory impairments.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, deliver, and assess differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs and learning plans.
• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to provide cohesive support.
• Foster a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents/carers and external agencies.
• Monitor and record pupils’ progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of behaviour support plans.
• Promote inclusion and celebrate diversity within the classroom and wider school community.
• Attend EHCP reviews, staff meetings, and training as required.
Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
• Ability to adapt teaching styles and use a variety of strategies to support diverse needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Postgraduate qualification in SEN or a relevant specialist area
• Experience with specific interventions (e.g., TEACCH, PECS, Makaton)
