Job Title: Qualified SEND Teaching Assistant, Profound Autism Special School
Axcis are looking for a qualified SEND support assistant for an all-age special school in Handsworth which has a support staff vacancy for a teaching assistant within the secondary department. Due to the high needs of the children in attendance at the school the school requires a qualified member of staff with a minimum of a level 2 qualification relating to supporting SEND needs or supporting teaching and learning.
This is a full-time role on an ongoing basis through to the end of the academic year (July 2026). This is a great opportunity for a teaching assistant looking to make a positive direct impact on the development, learning and life of a child.
Job details:
• Supporting profoundly autistic young people
• Supporting all needs such as sensory development and personal care
• Working alongside the class teacher and other teaching assistants
• Full time (8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday)
• Starting September 2025and going through to the end of the academic year (July 2026)
Requirements
• Minimum Level 2 qualification in a relatable field – Essential
• Experience of supporting individuals with SEND needs such as sensory processing, challenging behaviour and personal care – Essential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or we’re happy to carry out a new one ahead of you starting the position – Essential
