Axcis education have a full-time 1-1 Primary TA role starting in after Easter for the right candidate. The school is in Exeter towards the Heavitree area with good bus routes and a car park on site. You will be working, Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 3:15 but you may be expected to stay until 3:30. The daily pay rate is £85 - £90 per day. The school is a mainstream primary school with a Pre-school on site teaching the EYFS framework. The school is a Catholic school, they do teach ethos and values to the children for more of a life balance within their education. No staff are expected to be Catholic, everybody is welcome to work at the school. There is a dog on site which children can visit for a calm time out, as well as sensory room, timeout space room and a play and learning module to get the kids out of class and learn in new environments with messy and sensory play. The role is to be a 1-1 TA with 3 pupils who have SEND needs. You will be supporting 2 children in EYFS in the morning and another child in KS1 in the afternoons. The children are on the spectrum diagnosed or likely to have autism. They are either non-verbal or have a small vocabulary, are active, energetic and have global delay. You will be in a fun, Montessori setting with Lego, Playdo, books and messy play. They can be challenging and need to work in a space outside the classroom using lots of sensory and language activities to keep them engaged. Your responsibilities will be to grow a relationship with the pupil, build bonds and be a role-model supporting the children in their education, social, emotional, and behavioural needs. You must be a team player, be creative and able to communicate to primary children inorder to support their development. If this role goes well, you may be offered a permanent role at the school.
