Job Title: Positive Behaviour Support Assistant
**Position: Positive Behaviour Support Assistant**
**Location: Oldham, Lancashire**
**Salary: £85-£95 per day**
We are looking for a dedicated Positive Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team in Oldham, Lancashire. As a Positive Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing support to young individuals with challenging behaviours. Your aim will be to promote a safe and positive learning environment that enables students to thrive both academically and socially.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Implementing positive behaviour support strategies under the guidance of the lead teacher or behavioural specialist to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Working one-on-one or with small groups of students to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner.
- Facilitating communication and social skills development, using approved techniques to encourage positive interactions.
- Documenting student progress and incidents, ensuring records are maintained accurately and confidentiality is upheld.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with students, staff, and families based on trust and mutual respect.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
- Supporting classroom teachers by contributing to the creation of an organized, clean, and effective learning environment.
- Participating in team meetings and professional development sessions related to behaviour management and support.
- Proactively engaging with ongoing learning about behavioural theories and support practices.
**Requirements:**
- Must possess a current DBS on the update service.
- Strong background in behaviour support, with classroom-based experience preferred but other relevant experience considered.
- Demonstrable resilience and patience when working with young people who display complex behaviours.
- An understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to the wellbeing of students.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying situations and the needs of different students.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
**Qualifications:**
- Relevant qualification in education, psychology, social work, or related field is advantageous.
- Training in behavioural support techniques is highly desirable.
