Job Title: Part-Time Teaching Assistant
Looking for flexible, part-time work in schools across Taunton? We’re recruiting part-time and flexible Teaching Assistants to support pupils in primary, secondary and SEND schools throughout the local area.
This is a fantastic opportunity if you want meaningful, hands-on experience in education while keeping the flexibility to manage other hobbies, studies or family commitments.
The Role:
As a Flexible, Part-Time Teaching Assistant, you’ll work in a variety of school settings depending on where support is needed. One week you may be in a primary classroom, the next supporting students in a secondary school or specialist SEND provision.
You’ll be helping pupils with SEMH needs, autism and learning disabilities to engage with lessons, regulate emotions and feel confident in school. Every placement gives you valuable experience and builds your confidence in different environments.
Own transport is essential, as you’ll be travelling to different schools across Taunton and the surrounding areas.
Key Details:
• Flexible full-time or part-time work
• 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
• £13.70 per hour
• Start ASAP
• Opportunities for longer-term and permanent contracted roles
Many schools use flexible, part-time placements to identify strong candidates for permanent positions — this is a genuine way to get your foot in the door.
Why this role is a great move:
• Gain experience across primary, secondary and SEND settings
• Explore different school environments before committing long-term
• Develop practical skills in classroom support and behaviour management
• Keep evenings, weekends and school holidays free
• Fit work around sport, study, travel or other commitments
Who we’re looking for:
We welcome applications from graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, support workers, aspiring teachers — or anyone who enjoys working with young people. Experience is desired, but what matters most is that you are:
• Patient and calm
• Reliable and adaptable
• Motivated to support children who need extra help
If you’re looking for flexible, purposeful, part-time work in Taunton schools — with real opportunities to grow into permanent roles — we’d love to hear from you.
