Job Title: Outdoor Learning Practitioner
Axcis Education is proud to be working in partnership with Tuition to recruit a passionate and committed Additional Needs Tutor / Outdoor Learning Practitioner. This is a unique, full-time role that blends academic support with outdoor learning, offering a holistic and therapeutic approach to education for children and young people aged 4–19.
We are looking for someone who is confident, empathetic, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs – particularly those facing social, emotional, or behavioural barriers to learning.

The Role: What to Expect
This is a dual-focused position that combines classroom-based academic tutoring with creative, outdoor education.
Academic Tutoring Responsibilities:
• Deliver 1:1 and small group English and Maths sessions tailored to learners aged 5–19.
• Plan lessons based on the national curriculum, adapting for varying needs and abilities.
• Provide emotional mentoring to students with complex needs or challenging behaviours.
• Track and report pupil progress using academic and SEMH assessment tools.
• Prepare students for qualifications and external exams where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports, reviews, and team meetings.
• Work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to support each learner holistically.
Outdoor Learning Responsibilities:
• Lead and support nature-based sessions that promote well-being, resilience, and social development.
• Deliver creative and flexible outdoor activities suited to learners' interests and abilities.
• Work in all weather conditions and promote a love for the natural environment.
• Promote the therapeutic benefits of outdoor exploration and free play.
• Support with safeguarding, record-keeping, and parental communication.

What We’re Looking For:
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH.
• A passion for education and a commitment to inclusion.
• Confidence delivering academic sessions in English and Maths (KS1–KS4).
• A love for the outdoors and the ability to plan engaging, creative activities in nature.
• Resilience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills.
• A flexible and proactive approach to working in a dynamic, child-centred environment.
Relevant qualifications in teaching, youth work, special education, or outdoor learning are highly desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
