Job Title: Mental Health Support in Schools
Mental Health Support Worker – SEND School – Runcorn (Halton Area) Full-Time | September Start | School-Based | We are recruiting full-time Mental Health Support Workers / Teaching Assistants to join a large and well-respected SEND school in Runcorn, starting this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a specialist educational setting, supporting pupils with a range of social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs and additional learning difficulties. What the Role Involves: Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs Helping students manage emotions, develop coping strategies, and engage in learning Supporting behaviour regulation and creating a calm, safe classroom environment Working alongside experienced staff, including teachers, therapists, and pastoral leads Promoting student well-being and encouraging positive, supportive relationships No Experience? That’s Absolutely Fine. We welcome applications from people with personal or professional experience in any of the following areas: Youth work or mentoring Mental health or wellbeing support Learning disabilities or care Emergency services or residential settings Your empathy, patience, and resilience are more important than formal qualifications. Full training and on-site support will be provided. What We’re Looking For: A genuine passion for supporting children with additional and complex needs Patience, reliability, and a calm, caring nature Ability to stay positive and adaptable during challenging situations Commitment to working full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm) Pay rates starting from £13.50 per hour Willingness to work in a dynamic, team-focused SEND environment Additional Information: A child-only or child-and-adult Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required (or willingness to apply – we’ll support you through it) This is a September start, with potential for ongoing or long-term roles for the right candidates Ideal for anyone looking to start a career in education, SEN support, or mental health services Ready to take your first step into a meaningful support role in education?
