We are seeking a dedicated and experienced LSA to join our PRU in the vibrant city of London. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supporting young people who have been excluded from mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties. Given the nature of the role, we welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, including former police officers, prison officers, bodyguards, bouncers, and PE teachers, who are looking to make a positive impact in the field of education.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide tailored support and mentoring to students with challenging behaviour to encourage their engagement in the learning process.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the multidisciplinary team to facilitate a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Implement IEPs and behavioural support plans, adapting strategies to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Monitor and report on students’ progress, whilst maintaining accurate records of their achievements and any incidents that occur.
- Develop trust and rapport with students to become a positive role model, fostering social skills and self-esteem.
- Assist with the development of students' life skills and encourage their reintegration into mainstream education or alternative pathways.
- Contribute to the creation of learning resources and activities that align with the curriculum but are tailored to individual learning styles.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting vulnerable youth.
**Requirements:**
- Experience as an LSA in a PRU or similar educational setting.
- Experience in roles such as a police officer, prison officer, bodyguard, bouncer, or PE teacher, which have equipped the candidate with the skills to manage challenging behaviour.
- Strong understanding of child development and the social, emotional, and educational issues faced by students in a PRU.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, staff, and parents.
- Resilient, patient, and compassionate, with a commitment to supporting students through their educational journey.
- Physical fitness and the ability to respond effectively to potential crisis situations.
