About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team of educators in Preston, Lancashire. In this role, you will play an integral part in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You should possess a passion for education, a commitment to helping students achieve their maximum potential, and a readiness to undertake a variety of tasks with independence and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
- Provide classroom support to teachers in delivering lessons and managing student behavior.
- Assist with the development of learning materials and the setting up of the classroom environment.
- Assess and monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and pupils.
- Lead groups of students or whole classes under the direction of the lead teacher, ensuring learning objectives are met.
- Offer support to students with special educational needs (SEN), enabling them to access the curriculum.
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for specific students and monitor their progression.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom.
- Establish and maintain safe and positive learning environments.
- Support the school’s extracurricular programs, including after-school clubs, trips, and events.
- Undertake professional development opportunities and training as required by the school’s leadership.
- Engage effectively with parents or guardians and other stakeholders to support pupil achievement and well-being.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Relevant level 4 qualification or above (e.g., HLTA status, foundation degree, HND, degree) or equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
- Evidence of further professional development in education is an advantage.
- Ability to work well with children and to encourage their academic and social development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A good understanding of the school curriculum and the requirements of the National Curriculum.
- Capable of working under the guidance of the teaching staff and able to use own initiative when required.
- Experience with SEN students and an understanding of safeguarding practices.
- DBS checked (or willing to undergo checks).
