Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Cover Supervisor for a full-time position in a vibrant secondary school located in Manchester. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining classroom management and delivering set lessons in the absence of the subject teachers. The role is ideal for an individual who thrives in dynamic educational environments and is committed to providing high-quality support to students with diverse educational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage classes during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring that pre-set work is completed and maintain order and discipline among students.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive and conducive learning environment.
- Provide additional support to students with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and those with neurodivergent conditions such as ADHD and ASD.
- Utilise de-escalation techniques as needed to manage challenging behaviour and maintain a safe classroom atmosphere.
- Adapt teaching resources to meet the varied learning needs of students and ensure that all students remain engaged and on task..
- Report back on the behaviour of pupils during class and any issues encountered to the relevant staff.
- Liaise effectively with team members and participate in staff meetings/training as required.
- Actively follow and promote the school's policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role within secondary education, preferably with understanding and experience of supporting students with SEMH and other needs.
- Knowledge of neurodivergent conditions, such as ADHD and ASD, and strategies to support students with these conditions is an advantage.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to implement a range of behaviour management strategies.
- A positive and resilient approach, with the ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.
- Good teamwork skills and willingness to support colleagues in developing and sharing best practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or undergo a new Enhanced DBS check.
