Full-Time BSL Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School in Brent (September Start)
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brent is seeking a British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September. This full-time role is based within a specialist additional unit, supporting deaf and hearing-impaired students.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and group support for deaf and hearing-impaired pupils, addressing both educational and emotional needs.
Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication and enhance learning, tailoring support to each student’s needs.
Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SEN team, and other support staff to adapt learning materials and classroom activities.
Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that helps students build confidence and independence.
Monitor and report on student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
Key Requirements:
Fluency in British Sign Language (BSL) is essential.
Previous experience supporting deaf and hearing-impaired students in an educational setting.
Confidence in delivering personalised support across both academic and social contexts.
Strong team player with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
Full-time availability from September.
