Job Title: BSL teaching assistant - Level 2
Axcis Education are currently recruiting a Level 2 BSL (British Sign Language) teaching assistant to work in a vibrant and supportive school environment, supporting students with hearing impairments and/or communication needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and patient individual to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students who use BSL as their primary method of communication.
• Facilitate communication between students, peers, and teaching staff.
• Assist with lesson delivery and adapt materials to support understanding.
• Support classroom activities, behaviour management, and student wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communication needs.
Requirements:
• BSL Level 2 qualification (minimum).
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusion.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
