Job Title: Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant (KS4) | From £89/day | Tower Hamlets | September Start | Full Time | Long Term Supply
Axcis are working in partnership with a dynamic pupil referral unit in Tower Hamlets to recruit a teaching assistant to support a KS4 class of students with challenging behaviour. This full-time role is due to begin in September and offers a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who are disengaged from mainstream education. The school is centrally located with excellent public transport links and offers a highly supportive staff team.
In this role, you will:
• Support students in Years 10 and 11 with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (SEMH), many of who are at risk of exclusion or disengagement.
• Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning and regulate their behaviour.
• Assist with behaviour management in the classroom, using de-escalation techniques and clear, consistent boundaries.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students, acting as a stable and supportive adult presence.
• Work closely with the class teacher and pastoral staff to deliver behaviour strategies, support emotional wellbeing, and prepare pupils for post-16 pathways.
What we’re looking for:
• Experience working with students with behavioural needs or SEMH, preferably in a PRU, youth work or alternative provision setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure (Team Teach or similar training is beneficial).
• A confident, compassionate and consistent presence with the ability to build rapport and set clear boundaries.
• Availability for full-time work from September and a genuine commitment to supporting students who face barriers to learning.
