Job Title: Autism Support TA - Year 6 1-to-1
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1-to-1 support for a child with autism in Year 6 at a primary school. The child is 10 years old and requires full-time 1-to-1 support to effectively participate in the classroom environment. Responsibilities: • Provide 1-to-1 support to the child with autism throughout the school day • Assist the child in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials as needed • Help with academic tasks such as reading, writing, and numeracy • Support the child in managing challenging behaviours, such as overwhelming reactions to loud noises or attempts to run away • Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions as directed by the teacher or SENCO • Establish and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with the child • Collaborate with the teacher and other professionals to implement individualized plans to address the child's specific needs and goals Qualifications and Experience: • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with children with autism • Familiarity with strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviours • Knowledge of autism and its impact on learning and behaviour • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to the child's individual needs • Relevant qualifications and certifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Autism Awareness, or similar would be advantageous Join our supportive team and make a meaningful difference in the life of a child with autism.
