Job Title: ASD Classroom Support
Position: ASD Classroom Support
Location: Wandsworth
Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Temporary
Pay: Daily rates starting from £85
We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join a team supporting children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated needs. The role involves working with children aged 5-18 who may also display challenging behaviours and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable students and assist them in reaching their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one and group support to children with ASD and additional needs, including SEMH and challenging behaviours.
• Assist in the classroom, following the school’s guidelines to ensure a productive and safe environment for all students.
• Support students with personal care when necessary, ensuring their dignity and well-being.
• Use de-escalation techniques and strategies to support students during challenging moments.
• Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for learning and development.
• Work closely with the teaching staff to deliver tailored educational programs.
Essential Requirements:
• A minimum of 6 months UK SEN (Special Educational Needs) experience is essential.
• Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• A current Child and Adult DBS check registered on the update service.
• Manual handling and epilepsy training is required (training can be provided if needed).
• Ability to confidently provide personal care for students, as needed.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with additional needs.
