1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism & Emotional Regulation – Leicester (LE3) Location: Leicester (LE3) Contract Type: Full-time Salary: £89 – £105 per day / £445 – £525 per week Axcis Education is recruiting for a compassionate and consistent 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a secondary-aged pupil with autism at an independent alternative provision in Leicester (LE3). The student can become overstimulated and struggles with confidence, so this role would suit someone calm, patient, and emotionally attuned. The Role: You will: • Support a pupil on a 1:1 basis with Autism Spectrum Condition and sensory sensitivities. • Create a calm, structured routine to support emotional regulation and reduce anxiety. • Use visual tools, low-arousal strategies, and consistent routines to minimise overstimulation. • Build trust and rapport to help the student develop confidence and engagement. • Work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams to review progress. About You: • Experience supporting children with autism and/or emotional regulation needs. • A calm, nurturing, and predictable approach to behaviour support. • Confident using visual aids and sensory tools to manage overstimulation. • Emotionally resilient, patient, and consistent under pressure. • A background in alternative provision, PRU, or therapeutic settings is desirable.
