Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: £89 – £105 per day / £445 – £525 per week
Axcis Education is seeking a resilient and grounded 1:1 Learning Mentor to support a young pupil with very challenging behaviour at an independent alternative provision in Leicester. The child has a trauma background and requires a strong, positive role model who can build trust and offer consistent support.
The Role:
You will:
• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with a history of trauma, emotional dysregulation, and behavioural difficulties.
• Build a secure and respectful relationship, using empathy and firm boundaries.
• De-escalate incidents using low-arousal and restorative approaches.
• Use the student’s personal interests (motorbikes, mechanics, etc.) to engage and motivate.
• Support the pupil to re-engage in learning, routine, and social development.
About You:
• Experience with SEMH, trauma-informed care, youth work, or behaviour mentoring.
• Firm but fair – able to balance boundaries with compassion.
• Confident managing highly challenging behaviour in a consistent way.
• Able to engage hard-to-reach students through interests and real-world connections.
• Previous experience in PRUs, APs, or residential care is highly valued.
